Day 2 – Truth
February 1, 2011Dear Devoted Child of God,
It is exciting to know that there are so many who have chosen to set this time aside to seek the Lord!
Today we are encouraged to pray for “TRUTH.” My prayer for you is that the Lord in this season will sanctify you as His child through His truth. I pray you will grow so hungry for His Word and that His Word will bring a new level of freedom in your life.
32 And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
John 8:32 (NKJV)
When we make an active decision to allow His word to be the truth we live by, a process begins to take place called sanctification.
17 Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth.
John 17:17 (NKJV)
Jesus prayed in John 17, that we would be sanctified. This word sanctified in the Greek language, it means:
- to make holy, purify or consecrate; (mentally)
- to venerate ; [to be awe inspired by the dignity, wisdom of (something or someone) the truth]
- to be holy, sanctify.
Each of these definitions implies that the state of sanctification affects our mental state. Our mental state is a result of the things we think resulting in what we believe and what we believe affects what we do, how we live and what we expect. We cannot become sanctified in our own strength; we become sanctified through the Word of God taking root inside of our hearts and minds. Heavenly Father, we acknowledge You today as the God of all Truth, because you are Truth itself. You are a God whose character and nature cannot lie. Forgive us for allowing lies to replace the truth. Forgive us for the times when minimize your Word as truth, to fit our mental state of being, instead of allowing your Words to change our mental state. Forgive us for our fleshly efforts to be sanctified.
We acknowledge that you are our sanctifier and your Word is the tool you use to sanctify us. Sanctify us and set us apart, because want to be closer to you. Create in us a fresh new hunger for the truth. Help us to become dissatisfied with the ways of the world and be a people who pursue the truth. In Jesus Name, AMEN
