Day 23 – TruthFebruary 21, 2011
Dear Truthful Follower of Christ;
What a joyous day we live in, we can recognize and understand the truth of God, because we have been given a great gift. The gift that the Truth that is in Jesus and because Jesus is in us, we have the ability to be able to recognize, understand and therefore walk in the Truth. We in the flesh, in our sinful nature had become one with darkness. The very root of darkness is in opposition to truth. The force of darkness exists in the absence of light. It thrives in an environment that is rooted in deception, distortion, division, derisions and death fed by lies. Lies are the belief statements rooted in things that oppose the Truth. Its purpose is to keep you out of the light. Darkness will hold you captive to its illusions of the way it is, where truth gives illumination to what really is which produces clarity of vision and focus. If we are going to be a people of the Truth, we must be children of the Light.
5 For you are all children of the light and of the day; we don’t belong to darkness and night. 6 So be on your guard, not asleep like the others. Stay alert and be clearheaded.
1 Thessalonians 5:5-6 (NLT)
As children of the Light (truth) we are encouraged how to live:
6 …therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober. 7 For they that sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night. 8 but let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for a helmet, the hope of salvation. 1
Thessalonians 5:6-8 (KJV)
The writer of this passage was encouraging us to not live in a passive state, unaware of the schemes of the enemy. Not to live in a false sense of security, but to live in the fullness of light. Where we lack truth, darkness has a place to live and abide. We are encouraged to take seriously the responsibility to walk in the light of the day and to stay covered in the grace and truth that was provided for us in Christ Jesus, as this covering is the armor that will protect us from the schemes of darkness.
To walk in the truth, we must acknowledge He is truth and we are becoming children of truth. If we live in the light of His Truth, we will walk in the light.
7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. 8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
1 John 1:7-10 (KJV)
Walking in the light means we will have fellowship one with another (in unity and forgiveness), because we have been cleansed from our sin. If we walk in the light, we realize that we been born into the Kingdom of light (spirit man) and are in the process of darkness being evicted from our life (soul, [mind, will and emotions]). Allow the Truth of what He has done for you, be the force that allows you to align your life in the truth, so you can walk in the light while being a reflection of the Light for and by His glory.
Heavenly Father, God of all truth, Creator of All Light, thank you for delivering us from darkness. Not only have you delivered us but you have called us out of darkness. Thank you for illuminating our way out of darkness and today, we choose to walk out of the darkness that we have embraced and into the marvelous light of Your love and truth. Enable us with Your grace and glory to be the people you have called us to being. We are a special people, because we are loved by you. Forgive us when we have been asleep, when we have chosen to be passive about the darkness within. Today we consecrate our lives to be a people of the light, living soberly aware of the darkness around us, while putting on the garments of light revealed by the truth of your Word in Christ Jesus, AMEN
