Day 9 – Truth

February 8, 2011

Good Morning Devoted Follower of Christ;
On day 9 of our journey our focus in the word DEVOTED is “T” for Truth.  With that in mind, I want to share some thoughts and revelation of my heart as we explore the “Truth” and its impact on us living a more devoted life.

23 But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him.

John 4:23 (NKJV)

Jesus said the hour is coming and now is, when the true worshipers will worship him in spirit and truth. I think, if we are not careful, we can learn truth in our logic and in our mind and never let it go beyond there. Truth without spirit brings religious conforming, but truth with the spirit ( the breathe of God) brings transformation.  Jesus tells us that “true” worshipers are those that worship in SPIRIT and TRUTH.

We are encouraged to live by the Spirit. To live a life filled with the breath of God, by allowing our existence to be fueled by His breath.  This type of living causes the truth to be illuminated in us; allowing the “truth” to be an activating agent in our life.  The Living Word transforms us!  Jesus was giving us key insights to walking in the truth, and that is, you and I cannot live in the letter of the law and create life. But, if we walk in the spirit or the life of the law, it brings forth life. When we live by the very essence of His presence, we will not break the letter of the law.

Are you living life in the spirit, existing in the breath of God? Or are you still trying to live out a transformed life in your intellect?  Why is the answer to this question so important?  What does it have to do with truth?

28 For in him we live and move and have our being…

Acts 17:28 (NIV)

Because, I believe you and I will not be able to discern truth and live by truth, without a relationship with TRUTH.  He is the TRUTH, the Way and the Life.  For so long, many of us have subtly believed that “truth” is words or a code of ethics.  But Truth is God and truth is embodied in the His very nature and is reflected in His words or code of ethics, so we can embrace and be transformed.  We can only know Him by the spirit and it is in the spirit we can now understand the words that describe His character, and His nature and the code of ethics He lives by.  And if we are His children, we will be as He is; people of the truth.

In this hour it is so important that you and I become a people of truth.  We must become hungry for truth, as we were made to be vessels of truth. Because we are three part beings, we will have to pursue truth on three dimensions, spirit, soul and body.  When we come into relationship with Truth (spirit), we now become hungry to know truth (intellect, mind, soul), so we can be transformed by truth (will and emotions, soul), so we can live out the truth (flesh).

Heavenly Father, I pray our life will become as Job, when he declared:

12 I have not departed from the commandment of His lips;
I have treasured the words of His mouth more than my necessary food.

Job 23:12 (NKJV).

Father, help us to desire your word more than our necessary food (or any other thing we deem necessary in this life). For the words of your mouth contain your very breath, and it is the very essence of life which illuminates the truth to a living state in us.  Help us to live in the very breath of your presence.  Help us to be hungrier for your ways instead of our ways.  Help us to be worshipers who live beyond the letter, but live a life that fulfills your word, because we are living in your Word, In Jesus Name AMEN.
