Seek God For The City – Day 17
March 1, 2013Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the body is weak.
Mark 14:38
In this passage, Jesus is teaching us the “key” to not falling into temptation. He tells us to “watch” and “pray”. This means to be vigilant, stay awake and commune with God in
a sincere and transparent manner.
Jesus communicates this because He is so keenly aware of the war that rages between the natural man and the spirit man. You cannot fend off the temptations of life and the enemy unless you are awake and empowered by God’s grace. So, as you press in diligently, in this season of prayer, expect a new strength to arise in you to resist the temptations that the enemy would try to send your way.
Our greatest enemy in this hour is the passivity and complacency that lulls us into a sleepy state spiritually. So arise in this hour and shake of your slumber and connect with your God in a fresh new way!
Therefore He says: “Awake, you who sleep, Arise from the dead, And Christ will give you light.”
Ephesians 5:14
