Day 36 – Oneness (Unity)

March 5, 2011

Dear Devoted Follower,
As I pondered the thought of being one,  I looked up verses that used the phrase “together we” and here are the scriptures that surfaced.

8 All the people answered together,

“We will do everything the Lord has said.” So Moses brought their answer back to the Lord.

Exodus 19:8 (GW)

Can you imagine what a sound it was to the ears of God, when Moses went back to the Lord with the words of the people of God?

The scripture said ALL the people answered TOGETHER; “WE will do everything the Lord has said.”  They did not say we will do everything “we agree upon;” they said we will “do” ALL that He has said. There can be no unity or oneness with God with partial obedience or partial unity.

Yes, we are individuals with a personal relationship with God, but we are not islands, we are all lively stones, designed, intended to fit together to build a spiritual house.  Our lives are part of the pieces that God joins TOGETHER to fashion a place for His manifested presence to come and dwell.  He is the architect, and He knows how it all should fit, and function.  Ours is to be willingly yield our lives as a sacrifice as priests unto God in an acceptable manner that glorifies Him.

5 Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.

1 Peter 2:5 (KJV)

20 Together, we are His house, built on the foundation of the apostles and the prophets. And the cornerstone is Christ Jesus himself.

Ephesians 2:20 (NLT)

  • What answer will the Lord hear when He leans down from heaven to the earth?
  • Will He hear the sound of hearts unified in purpose?
  • Will He hear the sound of priests presenting their lives as a sacrifice, willingly yielding their lives for His glory?
  • Or will He hear the sound of a people who are together, but disconnected from heart and purpose.

3 Can two people walk together without agreeing on the direction?

Amos 3:3 (NLT)

God is looking for a people who will resoundingly declare in this hour that “WE WILL DO EVERYTHING THE LORD HAS SAID”. When He does, He will move in power as the spirit of unity releases His presence to move in a mighty way. Let’s unify in a spirit of obedience and agreement and become a force in this hour that reflects Him and His glory. Be unified for His purposes.

Heavenly Father; help us to be a people who are unified and not divided.  Forgive us when we have allowed our own opinions to divide and separate us.  Forgive us when we come together in our sinful ways but find it difficult to be one in our faith.  We desire to be a people unified in heart and purpose that advances your kingdom and blesses your heart.  In Jesus Name; Amen
