Day 22 – Oneness
February 20, 2011Dear United Believer; Our theme of the day is “One” or “Unity” – Being “one” and being “united” both speak of a state of being and a state of heart. But, this state of oneness is not an action that we do “for” God, but “because of” God. When we embrace the truth of Christ; His death, burial and resurrection, and unite our hearts with Him through faith in His finished work, we who were fragmented now become one. We are now one, with the One who can take our divided hearts and make us a unified people through the blood of Jesus Christ.
When we give our life to Christ, we do not get a piece of Christ, we get all of who He is to dwell in us and through us! Jesus does not become a fragmented part that is divided up between us, but causes us who are fragmented to become one and whole in Him! That state of oneness with Christ, changes our state of being, and as a result, it changes our hearts. We who were divided in heart are now unified in heart so we can live a focused, purposeful life that fulfills the destiny that has been ordained for us. How can that be? It is a miracle of grace that God gives to us. He gives us His glory that transforms and unites us with His power, so we can one in every sense of the word, as Jesus was one with the Father. This glorious power not only unifies us with Him, but unifies us with one another.
22 And the glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one…
John 17:22 (NKJV)
This union is not a result of us reducing Christ to what we are; but is a result of His raising us to what He is like! Make a decision today, to not reduce Christ to where you are, but allow His glorious power to lift you up to what and who He is.
Heavenly Father: We humbly come as a fragmented people who desire to be one with you. We acknowledge our divided hearts and will and ask for your glorious power to deliver us and cause us to be a people who are unified of heart and single in our focus. We are unable to do this in our own strength and ask Your forgiveness for the times we have tried. Father forgive us when we reduce you to what we are and ask that you lift us up to where you are to become what you are. Release your glorious power and unite us once again with you, so we can live a united life with one another and one with your purpose. In Jesus Name; Amen.
20 And we know that the Son of God came so we could recognize and understand the truth of God—what a gift!—and we are living in the Truth itself, in God’s Son, Jesus Christ. This Jesus is both True God and Real Life.
1 John 5:20 (MSG)
2 make my joy complete by being of the same mind, maintaining the same love, united in spirit, intent on one purpose.
Philippians 2:2 (NASB77)
