In God We Still Trust – Day 3

August 29, 2012

Be careful that you do not forget the Lord your God, failing to observe his commands, his laws and his decrees that I am giving you this day.  Otherwise, when you eat and are satisfied, when you build fine houses and settle down, and when your herds and flocks grow large and your silver and gold increase and all you have is multiplied, then your heart will become proud and you will forget the Lord your God …

Deuteronomy 8:11-14

Heavenly Father, we humbly repent and ask for Your forgiveness in this hour as we have become a people who are more influenced by the world, its ways and our own accomplishments.  In the midst of our blessings we have forgotten the grace that has caused us to prevail.  Forgive us as we have become a people who are full and satisfied and in that satisfaction we have become complacent and apathetic.

Awaken us from our slumber and deliver us from the pride that causes us to hide in our own reasoning.  Revive us again as a people who are “one nation under God.”   Send forth your Spirit once again and bring this nation back to you.  In Jesus Name we pray, AMEN

For thus says the High and Lofty One Who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy: “I dwell in the high and holy place, With him who has a contrite and humble spirit, To revive the spirit of the humble, And to revive the heart of the contrite ones.

Isaiah 57:15
