Full Assurance In The Heart – Day 8April 25, 2011
Those who know your name will trust in you, for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you.
In the Hebrew culture one’s name represented who they were and how they were known. In the original language, “name” implied an identifying mark of character, integrity and honor. The Psalmist is declaring that those who are acquainted with God and have become familiar with the integrity of His ways would not have a problem with placing their confidence or trust in Him.
Throughout the Word is a record of those who trusted in His Name and this is what they have declared.
- He is faithful and keeps covenant:
Know therefore that the Lord your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commands.
- His Word and Promises of God are pure and proven
The words and promises of the Lord are pure words, like silver refined in an earthen furnace, purified seven times over.
Every word of God is tried and purified; He is a shield to those who trust and take refuge in Him.
so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.
These men also discovered that not only does God keep His word, but He doesn’t forsake those He has given His word to.
- His word to Jacob
Behold, I am with you and will keep you wherever you go, and will bring you back to this land; for I will not leave you until I have done what I have spoken to you.”
- God affirms His commitment to Joshua Himself–
No man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will not fail you or forsake you. Joshua 1:5
- The Apostle Paul’s word to the New Testament church–
…ForHe Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
- If His Word was not enough, He gave us His Spirit to come and dwell within us.
And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you.
As you Forge Ahead In Trustful Hope, do so with full assurance in the heart as the “Name” of the Lord can be trusted in completely. He not only watches over His Word to perform it in our lives, but He is an abiding presence, who has chosen to dwell within us by His Spirit. Invite Him today to dwell within you and you will discover the integrity of His Name which is above every other name.
