Full Assurance In The Heart – Day 6
April 23, 2011Trust in the Lord, and do good; Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness.
Psalms 37:3
As believers we can truly forge ahead trusting God and in the integrity of who He is, because of the track record of His faithfulness throughout the ages. In Psalms we are encouraged to place our trust in the Lord, as we go about our life doing good to those we encounter daily. Then the Psalmist gives us insight as to we can continue in our trust; “by feeding on His faithfulness.”
How can one feed on the faithfulness of God?
We can begin by reading the record of “His” story, known as the Word of God. In this record one can read again and again, the faithfulness of God being made manifest in the lives of those who have placed their trust in Him.
One such man was Abraham. Abraham became known as the Father of the Faith. Abraham discovered that with God all things are possible! He discovered when man says, “NO”, God says “YES.” When men say, “It’s too late;” God says “You are right on time!” And when others says it can’t be done, God, says “My Will Be Done.”
19 And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sara’s womb: 20 He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; 21 And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.
Romans 4:19-21
Abraham did not live a life without test or trial, in fact the tests and trials he faced only served to prove the faithfulness of God in his life. Abraham came to know the Lord as Jehovah Jireh; “the Lord who provides.”
So Abraham called the name of that place The Lord Will Provide. And it is said to this day, On the mount of the Lord it will be provided.
Genesis 22:14
This heritage was so great that even his son Isaac understood the faithfulness of God and he became known as the man who prospered even in times of famine.
When Isaac planted his crops that year, he harvested a hundred times more grain than he planted, for the Lord blessed him.
Genesis 26:12
You too, can forge ahead with full assurance in your heart, by feeding on the faithfulness of God, as seen in His Word. Water the seed of His word by going about and doing good, while you dwell in the land of your influence. Then watch the harvest of His faithfulness increase in your life and become a record that others will read and feed upon, as they place their trust the Lord.
Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise.
