Full Assurance In The Heart – Day 59

June 24, 2011

One thing God has spoken, two things have I heard: that you, O God, are strong, and that you, O Lord, are loving. Surely you will reward each person according to what he has done.

Psalms 62:11-12

In this passage David says, when God speaks even once, if you have ears to hear, you will hear more than one thing.   What David heard convinced him that God was near, and if God is near, there was no need to fear!

The Lord is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; Of whom shall I be afraid?

Psalms 27:1

But David discovered that being in the presence of God also reveals more than the strength of God, it reveals the heart of God.

Psalms 86:5

Moses went to Mt Sinai to receive again the tablets that bore the commandments after the people had sinned and he had broken them in his frustration.  These were to be the bounaries that the people of God would live by as his children.  And upon his return, what left the greatest mark on Moses was not the strength, power and authority of God, of which he was so humbly aware of, but it was the loving kindness of God that was revealed as he stood in the presence of God.

Then the Lord came down in the cloud and stood there with him and proclaimed his name, the Lord. And he passed in front of Moses, proclaiming, “The Lord, the Lord, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness, maintaining love to thousands, and forgiving wickedness, rebellion and sin. …

Exodus 34:5-7

David and Moses understood things about God that others did not, because they spent time with God.  As you forge ahead today, take the time to be with Him.  Don’t just learn about Him, you will miss so many important things that cannot be conveyed by others.   Moses and David discovered in God’s presence a depth of God’s heart that was beyond words.   They discovered the depth of His love, that gave them an assurance in their heart.  An assurance that not only is God strong and able, but God is near because He loves us.
