And the Lord said to Abram, after Lot had separated from him: “Lift your eyes now and look from the place where you are–northward, southward, eastward, and westward; for all the land which you see I give to you and your descendants forever.

We have all hit pivotal points in our life, where we hit the wall. When we hit the wall, it’s an opportune time for a dream or vision to take hold.

Abraham set out to obey God’s voice, God gave him a vision, go and leave the land you live in and I will bring you to a new land that I have set apart and you will be my leader.  Abraham set out to obey, well mostly obey.  He brought Lot, and in the end it seemed like Lot got a lot and he got left holding the bag.  But it was in that season when Abraham let go of Lot and separated himself from“a lot,” that God spoke to him.  

In times of seeming decrease… cheer up, it is only making more space for a fruitful vision to come into your life.

In the town of Enterprise, Alabama, there is a monument in the town square paying tribute to a bug!  This bug; the Boll Weevil caused great devastation to the land.  In 1915 the boll weevil immigrated to Alabama from Mexico and began a rampage of destruction, and by 1918 the farmers were losing entire crops to this devastating insect and something had to be done about it.   If they didn’t solve the problem, they were finished.  But one man in the midst of adversity allowed his imagination to soar.

H.M. Sessions realized that the town’s future lay in harvesting a different crop, and he began to convince others of his dream.  It took him a year to find someone who would listen and back his plan to plant peanuts. When his crop succeeded, all the other farmers moved quickly to plant peanuts.  

Each of us go through boll weevil seasons in our life, where things seem like they are a dead end and the problems you are facing are huge!  But if you can remember who you are in Christ, and choose to have eyes to see, it can be the beginning of a new vision. 

Have you dreamed a dream and then hit a season where the boll weevil of life is trying to convince you it is over?  Are you facing a dead end or at least it seems that way? 

Then do what Abraham did.  He separated himself from a Lot.  Separate yourself from the lot of disappointment and begin to dream again.  Separate yourself from the fear that keeps you from seeing the vision and dream that God has for you! Begin to forge ahead with full assurance in your heart. Do what Abraham did…. “Lift your eyes and now look from the place where you are,” and begin to see and dream again and allow your crisis to cause you to dream and open a new door to your destiny!
