Full Assurance In The Heart – Day 5

April 22, 2011

So, trust the Lord always, because he is our Rock forever.

Isaiah 26:4

Great faith that forges ahead in trustful hope is a faith that is rooted in a deep trust.   The greater the depth of our trust, the deeper the full assurance we possess in our hearts.  Trust is established when one is able to place their confidence in and upon something that is credible, reliable and able to carry the weight of what has been entrusted.

Isaiah is encouraging us to place our confidence in God, but his words are not without substance.  Isaiah gives us a powerful word picture of why we can place our trust in God; “He is our Rock forever.”  Isaiah is saying that we can depend upon God, because He is eternally strong and dependable.  He is rock solid in His nature.

In Deuteronomy, Moses also describes the Lord as a Rock, and gives us further insight as to His credibility and strength.

He is the Rock, His work is perfect, for all His ways are law and justice. A God of faithfulness without breach or deviation, just and right is He.

Deuteronomy 32:4

Moses declares God’s credibility is revealed in how the Lord functions and operates.  “His work is perfect.”  The word perfect means to be without blemish; to be sincerely whole and complete in its integrity.

He further describes the integrity of God, when he says, that God is a faithful God without breach or deviation.   In other words, “if God says it, He has settled it”; so we can place our confidence in what He has spoken.

Hannah the mother of Samuel also encountered the God who is a Rock, strong, mighty and dependable, but One who is holy in all of His ways.

There is none holy as the Lord: for there is none beside thee: neither is there any rock like our God.

1 Samuel 2:2

King David encountered even from his youth, the “God of Rock” (Elohay Tzur); the One who is strong, solid, dependable, and enduring.  The Powerful One who is our eternal defense who can be depended on since He is strong and reliable.

The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; My God, my strength, in whom I will trust; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.

Psalms 18:2

The Lord liveth; and blessed be my rock; and exalted be the God of the rock of my salvation.

2 Samuel 22:47

As you forge ahead, go forth confidently with Full Assurance In The Heart as you place your trust in the One, who is rock solid in his nature, and able to bear the weight of what has been entrusted to Him, because He is also a God who is holy and perfect and full of integrity in all of His ways.

They will declare, “The Lord is just! He is my rock! There is no evil in him!”

Psalms 92:15
