Full Assurance In The Heart – Day 42

Treasuring the Gift of Life

“Lord, remind me how brief my time on earth will be. Remind
me that my days are numbered— how fleeting my life is.

Psalms 39:4

I love the visible humanity of David, the shepherd boy, the king, but more importantly, I love the boy/man who humbled himself before God.  David viewed life from many perspectives, as the youngest in his family; as the one anointed by God; one chased by kings; one who defeated the giants and at times overcome by his own flesh; but completely consumed by a love for God and His ways.

Whether David was in the fields with the sheep or residing in the king’s palace, he understood that life was fleeting and we have a destiny to fulfill.  One day we will meet the One who entrusted us with all that He placed within us and we will give account for the days that we have spent and for the lives we influenced for His glory.

As we are forging ahead to grow great faith, let us remember that faith has a purpose and that purpose is a part of our destiny.   Let us pray the prayer of David lest we forget that each day is a gift we have been given.  Let us pray the prayer of Moses as we number our days and live for a purpose that is higher than the moment, greater than the needs and louder than the voices that would lead us away from our destiny.  If we do, when we see Him face to face we will have full assurance in our hearts that our life has made its fruitful impact for all eternity.

So teach us to number our days, That we may present to You a heart of wisdom.

Psalms 90:12
