Full Assurance In The Heart – Day 39
May 28, 20111 Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, Whose sin is covered. 2 Blessed is the man to whom the Lord does not impute iniquity, And in whose spirit there is no deceit.
Psalms 32:1-2
Blessed is he… we can often times have a different description of what it means to be blessed. Some think it is when their lives are absent of conflict, while others think it is when they have all their needs met. King David is a man who experienced times of abundance and times of lack; times of peace and times when it felt like there was conflict all around. Yet, when he pens Psalms 32, he gives us insight to what it really means to be blessed. He says blessed and happy is he whose transgressions is forgiven, whose sin is covered.
You can have peace around your borders, and your houses be filled with an abundance of things and be a miserable person, because being blessed has nothing to do with the external things that are going on around you. King David discovered that being blessed is when a person is no longer carrying around the guilt, shame and blame of their sins. Being blessed is when the Lord intervenes in our life and frees us from the sinful nature (iniquity) that drives us to do what is wrong. David discovered the truth that being happy has everything to do with living life honestly within and without, because God has given us what we do not deserve, His forgiving grace.
As you forge ahead, be honest with the Lord with what is going on within your life, admit your need and your sin and surrender your life to His saving and loving grace. Then you find full assurance in your heart because your happiness will be based on His unchanging love, which releases true blessings in your life.
