Full Assurance In The Heart – Day 38

May 27, 2011

When my father and my mother forsake me, Then the Lord will take care of me.

Psalms 27:10
If we are honest, there are times life can seem so unfair and deal us blows we never thought possible.  We can be so caught off guard by those with whom we trusted.  These times can cause us to withdraw and self protect and react.  But, it is in those times, we need to look into God’s Word and read of those who faced the same situations and discover how they responded.

David, as a young boy and as a man faced the betrayal of family, friends, and of a king he diligently served.  One cannot ever anticipate such disappointments, but it was in those times David drew his comfort and strength from God.  It was in those times he discovered the character and integrity of God.  It was in those seasons he developed a deep abiding trust in the faithfulness of God.

The Apostle Paul faced many challenges as well, as he endeavored to do the will of God in his life.  Many times things did not go as planned, and many times he was misunderstood, but it was in those times, his trust in God grew as he continued to walk in integrity and confidence.

Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”

Hebrews 13:5 (NKJV)

Both David and Paul discovered that the trustworthiness of God had nothing to do with men and their ways.  They did not allow the circumstances of their life to dictate their behavior or their confidence in God.  Difficult times only served to convince them that their God was always there and they would never be abandoned no matter the circumstances, so the continued to do what is right and not allow the circumstances to determine their responses.

Forge ahead with full assurance in the heart, do not allow the situations of your life to dictate your behaviors or decisions, because you are not alone as your God will never leave you nor forsake you, you can place your trust in that!
