Full Assurance In The Heart – Day 32

May 20, 2011

The Battle is the Lord’s

And that all this assembly may know that the Lord does not deliver by sword or by spear; for the battle is the Lord’s and He will give you into our hands.”

1 Samuel 17:47

As we search out the truth’s that are found in the story of David and Goliath, we see that David’s experience as a shepherd at a very young age taught him about the loving protection of the Good Shepherd.

As a shepherd, he understood that in the natural, the care of the sheep was ultimately his.  David took seriously his role and grew in his skill and strength to accomplish his task.  And yet, the daily things he had to encounter, to properly care and protect the sheep were way beyond what he alone could handle or manage. It was in those times, he discovered that the Good Shepherd is also the Mighty Warrior with whom he could trust in the day of trouble.

And David said, “The Lord who delivered me from the paw of the lion and from the paw of the bear, He will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine.”

1 Samuel 17:37

David came to realize that it was not by his natural strength or ability that he would overcome the challenges and battles that were before him, but it was by trusting in the presence of an Almighty God, who was faithfully there to fight on his behalf.

As you face life’s daily battles; have full assurance in your heart, for you are not alone in the battle.  Be diligent to attend to what you have been entrusted with, but do not rely upon your skill and strength in the day of the battle.  Rely on the strength and wisdom of the Mighty Warrior who is ever present and has gone before you, because the battle belongs to the Lord and he has secured your victory!

6 I do not trust in my bow, my sword does not bring me victory; 7 but you give us victory over our enemies, you put our adversaries to shame.

Psalms 44:6-7
