Full Assurance In The Heart – Day 29

And he took his stick in his hand and chose for himself five smooth stones from the brook, …

I Samuel 17:40

If we are going to live on planet earth, we will all face “rocky times.”  But it is in those rocky times, we can discover “The Rock;” the one who enables us to have the victory.

He said: “The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; 3 my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation. He is my stronghold, my refuge and my savior…

2 Samuel 22:2-3

In rocky times if we are drawing close to God, He reveals nuggets of truth (rocks of revelation) that empower us to overcome.  If we allow life’s troubled waters to bring us closer to “the Rock;” what was meant to create a place of stumbling can now become a place of strength.

These nuggets of truth reveal the character and integrity of God revealed in the Rock, Christ Jesus.  They reveal the plan of God for our lives in Christ Jesus.  They reveal the promises of God that we can cling to in our “rocky times.”

He is the Rock, his works are perfect, and all his ways are just. A faithful God who does no wrong, upright and just is he.

Deuteronomy 32:4

Each time the troubled waters of life come they wash over those raw truths in our life, proving them again and again.  These truths are then made smooth and easy for us to get a grip onto and embrace.   They are not just nuggets to cling to, but they become the firm foundation of our trust in God.   These nuggets are then transformed into smooth stones, which become the weapon we use against the schemes of life.

As you forge ahead don’t let your “rocky times” make you stumble, but allow them to reveal the Rock, from which you can plant your feet and become firmly established with full assurance in the heart.

In his kindness God called you to share in his eternal glory by means of Christ Jesus. So after you have suffered a little while, he will restore, support, and strengthen you, and he will place you on a firm foundation.
