Full Assurance in the Heart – Day 24

May 11, 2011

The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge.

Psalms 46:11

There are times in life that circumstances and situations surround us and our inclination is to feel that we are alone in the battle with no one to help us.  Aloneness fosters isolation and isolation becomes the breeding ground of our fears.   Fear grows as it magnifies the situation against us while minimizing our strength to overcome.

King David encountered those fearful days as many of us do, but he also discovered the truth that God is “Jehovah-Sabaoth,” which means: “The Lord of Hosts.” As the Lord of Hosts, He is the commander of the angelic hosts and the armies of God.  This revelation gave comfort and strength to David as he recognized that he was not alone in his battle and therefore did not have to be afraid.

Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident.

Psalms 27:3

David came to realize that God has a force of angelic hosts and their role is to watch over and fight for those who have placed their trust in God to keep us in all of our ways.

The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him, and he delivers them.

Psalms 34:7

For He shall give His angels charge over you, To keep you in all your ways.

Psalms 91:11

Not only is there an angelic host that is watching over us, but Jehovah Saboath’s army is greater than the enemies forces that would try to intimidate us.

So he answered, “Do not fear, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.”

2 Kings 6:16

As you forge ahead today, do it with full assurance in the heart that you are not alone!  God and His hosts are on your side.  There is no circumstance or situation that can isolate you from His loving care if you place your trust in Him.  So confidently and boldly declare the same words as the Apostle Paul as you make the Lord of Hosts your place of refuge.

What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?

Romans 8:31
