Full Assurance In The Heart – Day 2

April 19, 2011

Trust the umbrella of your faith!

1 God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble. 2 So we will not fear when earthquakes come and the mountains crumble into the sea. Psalms 46:1-2

As a people who are Forging Ahead In Trustful Hope, your life will encounter rainy day; days when the cloud cover is dark and looming and life is a bit soggy. Those are the days one must raise up their umbrella and stay in its shelter.

Our trust in God, acts as an umbrella to our faith; when life and its situations would like to water it down, or drench us with its fear.  When one has chosen to trust, one has made a decision to place their reliance on the character, ability, strength, or truth of someone or something.  The greater the trust, the greater the umbrella; the larger the umbrella, the more of a covering you have in the rain.

What do you trust?  How do you know you are trusting?  It is all revealed on your rainy days!

What time I am afraid, I will have confidence in and put my trust and reliance in You.

Psalms 56:3

King David was so transparent, about what he was going through and what he was feeling as he wrote out his Psalms before the Lord and for the people.  He at times felt afraid, overwhelmed and undone, but in the midst of admitting where he was, he discovered who God is. He discovered that God is able to defeat the lion and the bears of life, so when he had to face his Goliath, he knew he was not alone.

37 And David said, Jehovah that delivered me out of the paw of the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, he will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine. And Saul said unto David, Go, and Jehovah shall be with thee.

1 Samuel 17:37

Each time he faced the lion or the bear, it became an opportunity to prove out the character and integrity of the One he had placed his trust in.  That is why he could write so many Psalms.  The Psalms were his songs of adoration and praise to the one who always proved faithful even in the midst of the storm.

As you forge ahead growing great faith, lift high your umbrella of trust with Full Assurance In The Heart, singing in the rain because our God is a trustworthy God.

The Lord is my strength and shield. I trust him, and he helps me. I am very happy, and I praise him with my song.
