Forsaking All I Trust Him – Day 8
July 7, 2011But My servant Caleb, because he has a different spirit in him and has followed Me fully, I will bring into the land where he went, and his descendants shall inherit it.
Numbers 14:24
This verse is a record of the words that the Lord shared about Caleb. Caleb was an Israelite who was sent into the Promised Land to assess its resources and to evaluate what it would take to possess the inheritance that the Lord said was theirs. We can learn from this passage the qualities of a person of faith.
A key quality of a person of faith is that he has a different spirit in him. Caleb embraced a spirit of faith and not the spirit of fear. Caleb embraced a “we are able” mentality. He had eyes to see the Promised Land and all its benefits, even though there would be challenges to overcome to possess it. He had an obedient spirit that followed after the Word of the Lord trusting in the integrity and strength of God to empower him. He had an encouraging spirit as he shared his faith to encourage others to pursue the destiny that was before them.
As you forge ahead, let it be said of you, that you have a different spirit within you. Be a person who has chosen to forsake all that would keep you from following after God fully. Be a person whose words and example encourages people to move past their fears, to arise and inherit God’s best for their life.
Then Caleb quieted the people before Moses, and said, “Let us go up at once and take possession, for we are well able to overcome it.”
