Forsaking All I Trust Him – Day 29

August 17, 2011

His mother said to  the servants, “Whatever He says to you, do it.”  Now there were set there six waterpots of stone, according to the manner of  purification of the Jews, containing twenty or thirty gallons apiece.  Jesus said to them, “Fill the waterpots with water.” And they filled them up to the brim. And He said to them, “Draw some out now, and take it to the master of the feast.” And they took it.  When the master of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and did not know where it came from (but the servants who had drawn the water knew) …

John 2:5-9

Sometimes, we can make our journey of faith and our walk with Christ a complicated one. But the truth of forsaking all comes simply by responding to the words of Christ in obedient trust.  In this passage of scripture, Mary the mother of Christ simply said to the servants.

“Whatever He  says to you, do it.”

We have developed a culture that we obey only when we understand, but living a life of faith is not about understanding our circumstances and then believing.  It is about understanding the character and nature of God and then believing.   Our belief in HIM is the key to “forsaking all” in obedience to Christ.

The men in this story chose to obey  by responding to the words of Jesus and as a result they were a part of a miracle that communicated the very heart of God to His people.   As you read throughout the scriptures, every person who participated in or received a miracle had to make a decision to obey the word of the Lord in order to receive.

What miracles await your obedient response to God’s Word?

Make a decision today to forsake the doubt, and unbelief that causes you to hesitate in responding to the Word of God that has been released to you.

And he answered and said unto them, My mother and my brethren are these which hear the word of God, and do it.

Luke 8:21
