Forsaking All I Trust Him – Day 23
August 6, 2011He who covers his sins will not prosper, but whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy.
Proverbs 28:13
Some things are worth forsaking; like sin. When we don’t forsake our sin we end up hiding them. If you want to locate those who aren’t trusting God for victory over their sins just check all their hiding places. We hide our sins behind our successes. We hide them behind the sins of others. We see this same pattern even in the book of Genesis, Adam blamed his wife, she blamed the devil and ultimately Adam blamed God forgiving him Eve. The funny thing about trust is that it is always there. When we don’t place our trust in God, we misplace our trust in people, places, or things. We always count on something, but the problems starts whenever our trust is not placed in God.
Mercy is always a great trust indicator. When our trust is placed in God we experience His mercy and grace. When we misplace our trust, we feel guilty and ashamed. Prosperity is another trust indicator. When we sin by misplacing our trust in some one or something, we begin to lose trust’s dividends – (true) prosperity.
Are you trusting God for all that you want and need? To do otherwise is to make something or someone else God. Trusting in our investments, or our job or business only makes us a slave to them.
Another trust indicator is serving. We serve what or who we trust. Why be the slave to a merciless master when you can be a loving child of a merciful God? Jesus said that you can’t serve two masters. We can’t trust in material things while trusting in God.
“No one can serve two masters. For you will hate one and love the other; you will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.
Matthew 6:24
Forsake your misplaced trust today and make a decision to put God first. Confess your misplaced trust and its resulting sin to God and He will forgive you and cleanse you from all unrighteousness. He will break the bondage that things and people have over you and shower you with his mercy and grace today.
