Forging Ahead In Trustful Hope – Day 7

March 15, 2011

 Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Hebrews 12:2

On this seventh day of this journey, it is my desire that you are drawing closer to the Author and Perfecter of your faith.  Faith’s identity is truly established and ignited in a place of worship, it is then free to be nurtured and cultivated by the Word.  The Word brings to our spirit the necessary nutrients that are the building blocks of stronger faith.  As we are growing in our understanding, we must be also growing in our ability to exercise the truth and faith within. Faith is not an emotion, but an active expression of what we believe.

There were times that Jesus sent out His disciples to exercise their faith and they came up short.  Like the time the father with the young boy who had seizures was brought to the disciples. They were unable to free and heal the young boy.  Jesus said their inability to free the young man was a result of their little faith (immature faith).  (Matthew 17:14-20 & Mark 9:14-28)

He told them that it was in prayer and fasting, that faith is developed to a greater degree. He was saying to them that greater faith is grown when we take the time to fellowship with God in seasons of prayer, along with seasons of denying one’s self in the flesh.  These seasons help you to “Feed your faith, while you starve your doubts!”

Denying one’ self doesn’t make one greater, it makes one smaller.   John the Baptist said the book of John;

He must increase, but I must decrease.

John 3:30

In seasons where we consecrate times to pray and fast, we are purposefully taking action to reduce the natural man, so the spirit man within us can grow into its full identity and purpose.

We, who were made in the image of God, are called to follow after His footsteps.  We can only do this when we allow the cravings of our natural life to decrease, while increasing in our hunger and ability to do the will of God.

I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.

John 14:12

People who “Forge Ahead In Trustful Hope” are a people who have chosen to grow great faith by fixing their eyes on Jesus and denying themselves all that would compete with their destiny as children of God, who were born to accomplish His will.  Let us arise in this hour and forge ahead in a life of greater faith for His glory.
