Forging Ahead In Trustful Hope – Day 5

March 13, 2011

20 ….. for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.

Matthew 17:20

Often when we hear the word faith many of us conjure up something we need to “get” as if it were something outside of us.  Or we think it’s this mystical something, that if we could just grasp it, we would have it.  But the truth is, we all ready have “it” within us and it’s just waiting to be cultivated and released.   The Apostle Paul communicates this to us in the book of Romans

For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith.

Romans 12:3 (NKJV)

We must become a people who embrace the truth of God’s Word.  And the truth is…  “We have all the faith that we need already resident within us.”  Faith is not something I need to get, it is something I need to cultivate and release.   We have been given a measure of faith.  It may be in seed form, but it is already in us!   The Apostle Paul tells us how to cultivate this seed of faith.

So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Romans 10:17 (NKJV)

The Bible teaches us that faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God.  It is not saying that faith is a result of hearing the Word.  It is saying that the Word is the nurturing factor for the faith (seed) that lies within us.  The Word of God causes the faith within us to awaken, come alive and grow.  There is a spiritual union that takes place with the Word as it waters the faith (seed) in us.

Our faith is consummated when we hear the word again and again. Faith is brought to a place of solid growth in an environment of continual truth being placed in our heart.  Our hearts are the ground in which faith is grown and the Word of God is the “miracle grow” substance that is needed to grow the faith seed that lies within us.

For too many of us, the faith within us is not in its fully matured state.  If we are to grow the kind of faith that Forges Ahead In Trustful Hope, accomplishing our destiny, we must become diligent students of His Word.

Take the time in this season to become “one” with His Word and watch impossible become possible as the mountains move in your life!
