Forging Ahead In Trustful Hope – Day 35

April 12, 2011

37 For with God nothing will be impossible.” 38 Then Mary said, “Behold the maidservant of the Lord! Let it be to me according to your word.” And the angel departed from her.

Luke 1:37-38

On this 35th day of our journey, I am humbled at the simplicity and the power of faith.  In Luke chapter 1, Mary the mother of Jesus was a young woman when an angel, a messenger of God appeared to her and spoke God’s word to her; words that revealed her destiny. She would be with child by the Holy Spirit and that this child will come and fulfill the heart of God by reuniting man with His maker.

Mary was never without choice, in the matter.  She could have discounted the encounter, dismissed the words as impossibility or just a crazy dream.  But even in her youth she showed that one can accept the word of God, even when the words seem so far beyond them. She had made a decision to yield her life to God’s Word.  She accepted the truth that “with” God all things are possible.  She made a decision to place her trust in the Word of the Lord.  And as a result not only was her life impacted, but the legacy that was left opened the door for you and me to receive.

What has God shared with you that you are still wondering about and not acting on?  To forge ahead in trustful hope does not mean, we understand all that God has communicated to us by His word.  It means we have chosen to be a people who do not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.

As you embrace the truth of God’s word, you will see throughout its pages, men, women, young and old who chose to believe the word of the Lord.   They faced, opposition, time, ridicule, doubt, but in all the things they faced, they chose.  They chose to believe, that “with” God all things are possible! It was simple, but it required a decision.   The words of Mary became their words; Let it be to me according to your word.”

As you are Forging Ahead In Trustful Hope, remember that faith is expressed by our decisions. Mary’s decision to believe God at His word changed the course of mankind.  What decisions will you make today, and who will they inevitably impact?
