Forging Ahead In Trustful Hope – Day 28
April 5, 2011….. “Everything is possible for him who believes.”
Mark 9:23
Jesus was just two miles away from Bethany when he got word that Lazarus was sick. By the time Jesus got there, Lazarus had already died and had been buried for four days! When Jesus finally arrived, Martha’s first response was; “Lord if only you had been here, my brother would not have died.”
25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me will live even if he dies, 26 and everyone who lives and believes in Me will never die. Do you believe this?”
John 11:25-26 (NASB)
After Jesus speaks these words, He requests Martha to remove the stone from the tomb where Lazarus was buried as Martha questions the sanity of his request. (verse 39.)
But Jesus replied:
… “Did I not say to you, if you believe, you will see the glory of God?”
John 11:40
Jesus said to Martha, “if you believe then you will see.” For many of us the statement is if “I see then I believe.” – But in kingdom dynamics it is the other way around, “I believe then I see.”
How could Jesus expect one to believe beyond what was humanly impossible?
Because Jesus knew the Father’s nature:
He is the Rock, his work is perfect: for all his ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he.
Deut. 32:4
…..but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
1 Cor. 10:13
…. God is love.
1 John 4:8b
Gracious is the Lord, and righteous; yea, our God is merciful.
Psalm 116:5
He knew the Father’s integrity:
God is not a man, that he should lie. He is not a human, that he should change his mind. Has he ever spoken and failed to act? Has he ever promised and not carried it through?
Numbers 23:19
….. for God can be trusted to keep his promise.
Hebrews 10:23b
He knew the Father’s authority
For nothing is impossible with God.”
Luke 1:37
And he said, The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.
Luke 18:27
As you are Forging Ahead In Trustful Hope growing great faith, remember that great faith is not something you muster up within yourself; it is simply the result of what one “believes.” When you believe that God is who He says He is and can do ALL that He says He can do, then you will be able to believe in your darkest hour. Your belief will open your eyes to see the glory of Him who makes all things possible!
“Faith is the bird that feels the light and sings when the dawn is still dark.”
