Forging Ahead In Trustful Hope – Day 22

March 30, 2011

“Faith makes all things possible…. love makes all things easy.”

Yesterday, we examined how four men, who were good friends; stood in the gap and interceded for their friend until he received what he needed from God.   Today let’s continue to explore the attributes of these men, as we can discover how faith works through the vehicle of love.

And behold, some men were carrying on a bed a man who was paralyzed; and they were trying to bring him in, and to set him down in front of Him. 19 And not finding any way to bring him in because of the crowd, they went up on the roof and let him down through the tiles with his stretcher, right in the center, in front of Jesus. 20 And seeing their faith, He said, “Friend, your sins are forgiven you.”

Luke 5:18-20

  • These men were loving, unselfish and non judgmental

Faith works by love.  These men had a love, concern and a desire to see this man free, whether his bondage was caused by natural causes or his sin.  Their faith caused a reaction that resulted in work.  The effort expended on his behalf was fueled by their love for him.

“By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”

John 13:35

Intercession is the highest expression of love.  You can have a higher level of faith with intercession because it’s not tarnished with selfishness.  That is what Jesus did, when He died for us.

  • They were men of action

They didn’t stand around waiting.  They decided to make a difference.  Love activates faith into motion.  Love puts skin on your faith so it can be seen by God and witnessed by other.  To intercede is to plead on another’s behalf or act as mediator or to intervene. These things required an action in order to demonstrate.  These men were not afraid of the work of intercession

  • They understood the need to work together to accomplish great things.

Cooperation and unity supported their efforts and brought success.  Mark Chapter 2, tells us there were four men.  Yet, we never know their names, because they became one in their efforts and one in their purpose, so they won in their endeavors!  As a team, everyone wins; the giver and the receiver.

from whom the whole body, being fitted and held together by that which every joint supplies, according to the proper working of each individual part, causes the growth of the body for the building up of itself in love.

Ephes. 4:16

As you are Forging Ahead in Trustful Hope, remember it takes great faith to move mountains; a faith that works by love.  A love that is more than a feeling, but a love that moves one to unselfish action. Let us become a people in this hour that work together as one, unified in love, for the benefit of the many that will be won as we bring heaven on earth.
