Forging Ahead In Trustful Hope – Day 20

March 28, 2011

“To one who has faith, no explanation is necessary.  To one without faith, no explanation is possible.”

Faith is a living force that moves the world around us.  Faith has eyes to see beyond and a heart that is moved by compassion. Faith is not sedentary, it is active.  Faith’s action is seen in it generosity, because faith is demonstrated by the way one gives.

Faith generosity can be seen in three distinct ways. In our Giving, Forgiving and Thanksgiving.  In the story of the prodigal son, we see faith’s generosity demonstrated by a father who possessed great faith.

21 “The son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.’ 22 “But the father said to his servants, ‘Quick! Bring the best robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet. 23 Bring the fattened calf and kill it. Let’s have a feast and celebrate. 24 For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’ So they began to celebrate.

Luke 15:21-24

The father was moved to action, moved to give sacrificially.  He gave what was not deserved. He gave forgiveness.  From the fruit of this story, I can only imagine the days that went by that the father stood by the doorway looking beyond the road into the horizon for a son who had left. It is obvious that he looked with eyes of faith while praying and in praying he freely forgave.

“Whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone, so that your Father who is in heaven will also forgive you your transgressions.

Mark 11:25

Then we see the father’s generosity demonstrated by his giving in manner in which he restored him to the family.  Lastly, in the way he offered up generous thanksgiving for what the Lord has done.

Faith’s actions of generosity fulfill a purpose; The purposes of the Kingdom!

“And as you go, preach, saying, ‘The kingdom of heaven is at hand.’  “Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, cast out demons. Freely you received, freely give.

Matthew 10:7-8

Faith’s generous actions produce a fruitful harvest for everyone; for the one who receives and the one who gives.

Give, and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full—pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap. The amount you give will determine the amount you get back.”

Luke 6:38 (NLT)

As you “Forge Ahead In Trustful Hope,” let your faith be demonstrated in the way you live. Remember to freely give what you have freely received and in so doing the Kingdom will be seen.
