Forging Ahead In Trustful Hope – Day 11
March 19, 2011A seed that produces and lives its potential possesses certain qualities within itself. These qualities are determination, persistence and the ability to overcome. For the last two days we have highlighted the attributes of determination and persistence. Today we will reflect on the ability to overcome.
When you consider what a natural seed must endure in order to sprout forth from the depths of the earth, it is simply amazing! It must push past the obstacles from beneath the earth and then press past the ones above. And if that was not enough, it must endure the day to day battering from the elements that hinder its fruitful destiny. Yet within the seed lies an innate ability to overcome. What a visual picture this gives us of the seed’s ability to overcome!
The “seed of faith” that is resident within us possesses this same quality. This very quality was manifested in the life of the One who overcame the power of sin on our behalf.
And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.
Colossians 2:15
When you and I receive new life through Jesus Christ, we become the children of God, and as His children we now carry this same DNA within us. The same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead now dwells in us empowering us with the ability to overcome anything that would keep us from fulfilling our designed destiny.
You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.
1 John 4:4
What is standing in your way today, posing itself as an obstacle to your faith? Are they issues from within, or the hindrances from without? Are they the day to day issues of life? Well, arise in a new confidence today and allow the qualities that are resident within you to emerge as you Forge Ahead In Trustful Hope.
Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.
Romans 8:37
