Day 3 – Evangelism
February 3, 2011Dear Devoted Child of God;
I am so encouraged, as I write these devotionals as I ponder on the reality of the power in the spirit realm that is released as we have all agreed together in prayer.
Today’s focus is the very heart of the Father – Evangelism. What is Evangelism?
Webster’s say it is defined as “the winning or revival of personal commitments to Christ.” You can see this theme as a priority of God’s heart in the scriptures.
That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. John 3:15 (KJV)
And this is eternal life that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.
John 17:3 (NKJV)
Each of these passages of scripture gives us some insight.
1. Let us pray that the “whosever’s” of this world will make a decision to believe and live. God wants us to gain a heart for the “whosever’s” in our life.
2. Let us pray that we become a people that understand what true eternal life is and that it is in knowing Him and making Him known.
Definition #2 2: militant or crusading zeal – This speaks of an attitude we need to possess. Let us pray that we will possess a zeal that will cause us to be focused and militant as it were, to see souls come to a saving knowledge of Christ. In this hour, we would be a people full of zeal to restoring people to a right relationship with God.
Heavenly Father, I thank you, that in this hour You are doing a work in each of our hearts. Give us the same heart you have. You have a heart that none would perish. Forgive us when we are oblivious to those whosoever’s in our midst. Forgive us when we are absorbed with the things of this world that we have forgotten the reality of eternity and its impact on the people you have called us to reach. Forgive us when we allow our unbelief to cause others not to believe. Forgive us when we do not reflect the grace and forgiveness that you have so freely given to us. Lord anoints us in this hour with the ministry of reconciliation. Help us to restore those who have gone astray. Lord, anoint our eyes to see the harvest and how ready it is. Help our unbelief as we look beyond our reasoning and into your possibility. Lord captures our hearts with what captures yours. In Jesus Name, we pray. AMEN
Let’s close with the passage of scripture below.
20 But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, 21 keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life. 22 And on some have compassion, making a distinction; 23 but others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire, hating even the garment defiled by the flesh.
Jude 1:20-23 (NKJV)
