Day 17 – Evangelism

February 16, 2011

Dear Devoted Follower,

As devoted followers of Christ, we are to love what He loves, and hate what He hates.

16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

John 3:16 (KJV)

God so loved us, that He gave us His best, His Son, willingly laid down His life, so that none would perish. God loves people; therefore we should love people as God loves people.  God looked past our humanity and saw our eternity!  There is not one person He thinks is beyond saving!

13 For everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord [invoking Him as Lord] will be saved.

Romans 10:13 (AMP)

He felt so strongly about it, that He gave us a final command:

15 …Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

Mark 16:15-16 (KJV)

How do we accomplish this daunting task?  The Word of God gives us insights as to how people like you and me accomplish this.   It is really simple.  Do what Jesus did?  Go about doing good!

38 how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.

Acts 10:38 (NKJV)

Jesus went about His day doing good, impacting people in practical ways.  This impact dropped the walls and barriers that hinder people’s ability to receive.  As a result, they were open to receive even more.  The healing came after the doing good!   Do you want to see more of Jesus manifested in your daily walk?  Go about doing good, and watch what happens.  But remember “do good” for the kingdom’s sake, not for you name or fame.  But for His Name!

Heavenly Father, Help us to love what you love and hate what you hate. Birth within us a new compassion for men. Help us to see beyond their humanity and see their eternity. Open the eyes of our understanding, so we will comprehend that time is short, and there are many more that do not yet know of your saving love and grace. Empower us to do the work of an evangelist, and reach the unreached for your glory. In Jesus Name; Amen.
