E100 Devotion – Day 100August 13, 2012
Reading: Revelation 21-22
Revelation starts off with a blessing to those who read it, and concludes with the warning of a curse to those who add or take away from the words written in this book. Plagues will come on those who add, and the names of those who take away from this book will be taken away from the Book of Life. The integrity of the book of Revelation is highly guarded and regarded.
A new heaven and earth are created as the old ones pass away, to make room for the New Jerusalem to come down out of heaven from God. Prepared as a bride adorned for her husband the New Jerusalem comes to complete all things being made new, and the passing away of the ungodly, sin and curse of the law.
The New Jerusalem is the Lamb’s wife, having the glory of God – in other words, reflecting the likeness of God. Her light was like the most precious stone of jasper and clear as crystal. She had a great 200 ft. high wall with 12 gates which represent the government of God and the 12 tribes of Israel. There were 3 gates each in the north, south, east and west in the wall.
Again we see the number 12 in the 12 foundations of the wall represented by the names of the 12 apostles of the Lamb. The most amazing thing is the size of the New Jerusalem being 12,000 furlongs squared or 1200 square miles. Even harder to fathom is it’s height of 1200 miles! A city literally built as a mountain 1200 miles high and 1200 square miles wide!
There’s no temple in the New Jerusalem, because the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple, and there’s no sun or moon because the Lamb is its light which shines and brings light to all the nations which come to honor God.
This is the great city Abraham and the Patriarchs longed for that far exceed anything ever imagined before that’s being prepared and waits for us.
