E100 Challenge – Day 19May 24, 2012
Reading: Exodus 12:1-42
The Passover and Exodus of Israel are types and shadows of the coming Messiah and his Jewish and Gentile Church. First God makes and marks a new calendar by the sacrifice of a lamb without spot or wrinkle.
What had been the seventh month in their year now becomes the first month (Abibe) of a new year. The year had previously begun when the harvest was off the ground, but now it begins with the sacrificial lamb in March/April which is when Christ the Lamb would later be slain. The calendar was again set for the world “After the death of Christ.” That’s when the spiritual harvest began. Jesus was the first born from the dead.
Jesus Christ was slain from the foundation of the world. In Revelation 13:8 We also see Him in the first recorded sacrifice.
Abel also brought of the firstborn of his flock and of their fat. And the Lord respected Abel and his offering…
The Bible begins with the sacrificial lamb and continues right on through the book of Revelation. The Hebrew calendar was remade, as was our calendar today, both started with sacrificial lambs!
The lamb was to be sacrificed between 3pm and sunset, the very time of the crucifixion of Christ. It was a celebrational sacrifice made in readiness to being brought forth into liberty, freedom and deliverance from sin’s slavery and bondage.
The feast of unleavened bread (Passover) started with the purging of leaven or yeast from every household. This represents the true repentance that results from the searching and recognition of sin in the heart to be confessed and cleansed from sin.
- When we receive communion (unleavened bread) we search our hearts for the leaven of sin, so we can be cleansed by the blood of the Lamb.
Therefore purge out the old leaven, that you may be a new lump, since you truly are unleavened. For Christ, our Passover, was sacrificed for us.
1 Co. 5:7
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
1 John 1:9
Allow the sacrifice that He made for you to birth a new beginning; a new year in your life!
And he that sitteth on the throne said, Behold, I make all things new…
