Forsaking All I Trust Him – Day 10

July 11, 2011

So Noah did everything exactly as God had commanded him.

Genesis 6:22

Noah was a man, living in a time that is not too much different than now.  He lived in a culture that had moved far from walking with God.  Yet in spite of the worldly pressures, it was said that Noah walked blamelessly as a righteous man in his generation as he chose to do exactly as the Lord had said.    I can only imagine, if there were tabloids in his day, the things that were said of a man who was building an ark of this magnitude, while preaching the rain is coming.

By faith Noah, when warned about things not yet seen, in holy fear built an ark to save his family. …

Hebrews 11:7

Noah was a man of faith who forged ahead in trustful hope, because he had full assurance in his heart as to the integrity of God’s word.  He also understood the love of God and his desire for none to perish in the upcoming judgment. But to obey God meant, he had to forsake somethings to embrace the word of God in his life. Here are some of the things that Noah had to forsake:

  • He had to forsake the pressures of the world as he chose to live daily in a manner that honored the Lord.
  • He had to forsake the opinion of others, as he remained focused on the heart and mission of God.
  • He had to forsake the comfort and commit to the labor of obedience.
  • He had to forsake his own uncertainty and human reasoning as he labored building the ark according to the plan God gave him.

But, it was Noah’s willingness to forsake all and trust the Lord that brought salvation to him and his family, as well as to anyone else who would have chosen to listen.

We are living in a day, like no other, and the Lord is looking for men and woman who have the same heart as Noah.  People who are willing to speak the truth while obeying God’s word.  The kind of person that is willing to forsake all because you trust Him. In an ever changing world, what will you forsake, so that the will of God can be accomplished?  It could very well bring shelter to your family and the world around you.

As were the days of Noah, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.

Matthew 24:37
