SERVICES :  Sundays 9:00 AM and 11:00 AM & Fridays 7:00 PM

Why Missions?

Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you.

Matthew 28:19

One of the very last words of Jesus Christ to His people [believers] prior to His ascension was “GO”. We were told to “GO” with a purpose, because we have a mission. As believers our mission is to expand the Kingdom of God into all the nations of the world by making disciples.

Jesus gave us the strategy as to how this will take place. He said, to “GO” to Jerusalem [locally] Judea and Samaria [regionally] and to the uttermost parts of the world. [globally]. Acts 1:8

As followers of Christ, you and I have a mission.

Webster’s says mission is “a specific task with which a person or a group is charged.” We have been charged with the task as individuals and as a people to go and make disciples. We have a mandate, that is an authoritative command from Jesus Himself and have been given the authority as believers to execute His will on earth.

We can effectively accomplish our part of this mandate, if we combine our gifts, talents, abilities and resources. The Lord is gathering a people as laborers into His harvest field, as the harvest is ripe and the time is short. John 4:35

Pray to the Lord of the Harvest about how you can GO and expand the Kingdom of God, locally, regionally and globally for His glory.

  • GO with the reflection of His light in your daily life.
  • GO with the power of His Word on your lips.
  • GO with your time and talent by getting involved in serving or leading in an ministry that reaches out to others (Get Connected).
  • GO with your finances so others can tell them the Good News.

And he ordered us to preach everywhere and to testify that Jesus is the one appointed by God to be the judge of all—the living and the dead. Acts 10:42

The Scriptures encourage us that He hears us when we pray. We are told to ask and it shall be given. Prayer is a powerful tool to reaching the world with the message of God’s Love.

Ask of Me, and I will give You the nations as Your inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth as Your possession.

Psalm 2:8

Growing together Locally,

Reaching out Regionally,

Sending forth Globally

“God does nothing but by prayer, and everything with it.” John Wesley

“Men may spurn our appeals, reject our message, oppose our arguments, despise our persons, but they are helpless against our prayers.” J. Sidlow Baxter

You can be a part!

“The Great Commission is not an option to be considered; it is a command to be obeyed.” Hudson Taylor

Charles Spurgeon, a well known preacher of the 1800’s, (said to have pastored the largest congregation of his day), was once quoted saying “Every Christian is either a missionary or an impostor.” Charles Spurgeon was not only a world renown pastor, but the founder of Stockwell Orphanage. Spurgeon’s passion to see men come to the saving knowledge of Christ compelled him, as he gave his life to serve the Lord.

A missionary is one sent to accomplish a specific task. You and I are called to be missionaries. Our call as missionaries may not bring us to places unknown, but each of us have a ministry of reconciliation. You and I as disciples have been given a mandate to GO. Go and tell them that Jesus loves them. Go and make disciples teaching them to observe the Word of God.
